On the island of Bougainville, an autonomous region of Papua New Guinea, the giant Panguna mine has been closed following an armed resistance by the Bougainvilleans against the colonial powers. The aftermath of the Bougainville Crisis, the deadliest conflict in the Pacific since World War II that has claimed 20,000 lives, is dividing the population on the eve of a referendum on independence. What future to write? After the physical revolt, it's time for the spiritual revolt and the (re)conquest of the self.
Shot in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
